Hi I'mTony Webb
Welcome to my website

If you live in or around one of the areas listed below and would like to learn to drive why not give me a call on 07903 145938

As a Driving Instructor I teach a life skill. Indeed, when people ask what I do for a living they initially appear surprised, explaining that at 33 years old surely I'm a bit young.. I view this as an advantage as I find it easy to create a relaxed atmosphere with those younger pupils. This of course helps greatly in their learning, all the while retaining that suitable professionalism, naturally.

I have worked with Pass 1st school of motoring since qualifying as an Instructor, and I believe that their training and support aid me to teach today's learner drivers in understanding all there is to know about driving.. Not only towards both the theory and practical test, but beyond as well. Driving is - after all - a career in itself.

I am a fully qualified Driving Standards Agency Approved Driving Instructor (car) covering most of the TN and CT postcode areas - please see the list of principal towns below.

I am told that the atmosphere in the car is always friendly and relaxed.

I am also fully committed to and comply with the voluntary Code of Practice for ADI's.

Getting Started

Before you can start your driving lessons you need to have a provisional driving licence. Therefore, if you do not have one you will need to apply for one from the DVLA. You can obtain a provisional driving licence application by clicking request provisional application formor by visiting your local post office. You can apply for your provisional car driving licence up to three months before your seventeenth birthday (however, it would not become valid until you were seventeen).

Although you can start your driving lessons as soon as your provisional driving licence becomes valid, you cannot book the driving test until you have passed the theory test.

You should be able to book your theory test with a few days notice and receive your test results on the day of the test. You can book your theory test to take place on or shortly after your seventeenth birthday provided you have a provisional driving licence. The waiting time for a driving test is typically 6 -10 weeks. Sooner dates are usually available through test appointment cancellations.

Provided you have a valid provisional driving licence you can start your driving lessons before you take your theory test. Thus, combining your theory study with the early part of your driving course. This gives you the added advantage of being able to consult your instructor on various matters relating to the theory test and your theory study. Once you had passed your theory test your instructor could book your driving test and schedule the remaining part of your driving lessons.

How many driving lessons will I need?

The truth is everybody is different. The number of driving lessons that may be needed will depend upon several factors including the frequency of lessons taken, previous road experience (e.g. on a motorcycle / moped), and whether you are able to supplement professional tuition with private practice. Statistics suggest that age can also be a factor, with younger candidates generally requiring fewer lessons than older people.

As a very rough guide however, the Driving Standards Agency (the people who conduct the tests) say that nationally, on average, test-ready candidates will have had approximately 45 hours of training with a professional instructor plus around 22 hours of additional practice with a friend or relative. Please see the Direct Gov website (motoring section) for more details.

I work flexible hours and offer free pick-up and drop-off, and can often arrange lessons to start or finish at your place of work or study if it helps.

Normal tuition is on a one-to-one basis, and my aim is to ensure that you get your full hour(s) actually behind the wheel, rather than talking or being driven around by me!
